Once registered for this "course" you will be able to register for the individual courses that you would like to take towards the 24 hour requirement. You do not have to select all the courses that you wish to register for at your time of registration in the discount course and there is no time limit to complete the 24 hours of coursework. However, you will need to pay for the entire $525 tuition upfront.

The professional home inspector is required, both verbally and in writing, to describe the inspection process and communicate inspection findings to the client. This subject prepares students to inspect, in a residential dwelling, the interior water supply and distribution systems , as well as water heating equipment and drain/vent/waste systems and their related fixtures. The emphasis in this subject is on typical defects of the various types of roof coverings, drainage systems, flashings, skylights, chimneys, and other roof penetrations. Students apply their knowledge of roofing to inspections that focus on system performance, safety concerns, and compliance with existing codes and standards.

Here, students are asked to create a design project, which will ultimately be evaluated by a jury of professionals. Throughout the capstone, each student is paired with a faculty member and industry mentor to further enhance their education. Alternatively, the Fashion Institute of Technology also offers a two-year AAS program, which will prepare students for an entry-level position in the industry. These classes provide experienced students with knowledge and skills in commercial and residential building codes that are necessary for entry level inspector positions. Application of code knowledge in the inspection process is stressed through the four terms of the certificate program. New York State legislation mandates that all home inspectors in New York obtain a license.

The College of Central Florida partners with American Home Inspectors Training to offer flexible online home inspection courses. This Home Inspection course satisfies the State of Maryland Licensed Home Inspector requirement of 72 hours of training. Community College of Baltimore County CCBC provides a home inspector training course approved by the state of Maryland. Class includes a 1-month student membership to InterNACHI and student learning materials. Jim Jacobsen from Jacobsen Inspection Services and Paul Platt with Accurate Inspections are the instructors at the CCBC Home Inspection Licensing Class.

ELECTRICAL INSPECTION BASICS This course will reinforce the electrical inspection and the proper reporting of issues observed. The more common defects will be discussed along with photos of actual observed conditions. All property and house electrical elements will be examined including garage, attic, and basement/crawls areas, service entrance, and distribution panel/sub-panel. Recently developed auxiliary ASHI Standards of Professional Practice for Residential Pre-Drywall Inspections and Residential Pool and Spa Inspections. An overview of both the PreDrywall and Pool/Spa Auxiliary Standards will serve to broaden the knowledge base of both experienced and new home inspectors.

This course begins with a discussion of inspection points concerning kitchens and bathrooms and common problems with components such as walls, windows, and electrical and plumbing connections. You’ll study the components of plumbing systems before moving on to review energy conservation and other environmental and health issues that impact home inspection. This course is designed to enable the home inspector to maintain licensing by the State of Maryland by completing half of the mandatory continuing education requirements.

FSU’s curriculum also places a heavy emphasis on real-world experience, with 100% of students having at least one internship before graduation. Additionally, the four-year program equips graduates to sit for the NCIDQ exam, and to become licensed as interior designers in the state of Florida.
